Honoring Susan
The Susan Shigemura Memorial Golf Scholarship was founded in 2022 to honor our friend and founder of the Piper Glen Ladies Invitational in Springfield, Illinois. This tournament has sold out each year and attracts women golfers throughout the Midwest.
In December 2021, Susan lost her battle with breast cancer and the tournament was re-named in her honor with the goal of raising money for an annual award of a golf scholarship to a female high school senior in Illinois who is planning to play golf at an accredited college or university in the United States.
Susan was passionate about golf and an advocate and champion for women’s sports. In an effort to honor her desire to grow the game of golf for women, the Susan Shigemura Memorial Golf Scholarship foundation will be awarding a $2,500 golf scholarship to an eligible female student golf athlete in the spring/summer of 2024.
